International Chameleon Day 2026, Madagascar

On 9 May 2026, the municipality of Andasibe will host International Chameleon Day, organised for the first time in Madagascar by the Chameleon Conservation Centre, in collaboration with its local partners.


Date: 9 May 2026 from 9.30 am

Venue: Andasibe football ground (Moramanga district)


This event aims to raise awareness of the diversity of chameleons and their ecological importance, to encourage their protection, to highlight the threats to their habitats, to promote conservation efforts in Madagascar and to foster exchanges between biodiversity stakeholders.


On the programme:

  • Official ceremony and scientific presentations

  • Exhibitions and information stands

  • Educational games, quizzes and competitions

  • Cultural activities

  • Football tournament
