Awareness-raising & education

Conservation also depends on education

Raising awareness of chameleons to better protect them

The Caméléon Center Conservation runs awareness-raising initiatives across Europe and in the countries where the organisation carries out its conservation projects. Through exhibitions, information stands and public events, the CCC aims to engage the public with the challenges surrounding the protection of chameleons and their habitats.

Raising awareness of a species is often an essential first step towards better protecting it. These initiatives help to promote biodiversity, share accessible scientific knowledge and strengthen the link between conservation, research and society.

Exhibitions and events

The CCC takes part in various events organised by its partners to raise public awareness of the diversity of chameleons and the threats facing their ecosystems.

The association organises educational exhibitions, awareness-raising stands, conferences and various activities to showcase its scientific and conservation projects carried out with its local and international partners.

These initiatives also provide valuable opportunities for dialogue, helping people to understand the realities of fieldwork and the importance of preserving natural ecosystems.

International Chameleon Day

The CCC is also taking part in International Chameleon Day on 9 May at various locations around the world.

Raising awareness among the European public

In Europe, this day serves to raise public awareness of the challenges facing chameleon and tropical forest conservation, whilst fostering dialogue between visitors, scientists, organisations and partners committed to biodiversity.

Raising awareness at the heart of the regions concerned

The CCC also organises this event in the countries where the association carries out its field projects, right at the heart of the chameleon ecosystems and amongst local communities. In 2026, the CCC organised its first International Chameleon Day in Madagascar, in Andasibe, in collaboration with its local partners and with the sponsorship of Madagascar’s Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development. The event brought together over 1,000 participants for awareness-raising activities dedicated to discovering and protecting Malagasy chameleons.

How can I support this programme?

The development of these awareness-raising initiatives relies on the support of partners, institutions and donors.

Supporting this programme means helping to organise exhibitions, public events and awareness-raising days both in Europe and in the countries where the CCC carries out its conservation projects.

The CCC is regularly seeking partners willing to host an exhibition, support an event or contribute to the development of its educational and awareness-raising initiatives.

Supporting this project means investing in a scientific, ethical and sustainable approach to biodiversity conservation.
