During the joint meeting of the taxonomic groups for reptiles and amphibians (ARTAG) of EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquaria), held at Allwetterzoo in Münster from 12 to 17 May 2025, Benjamin Drouet – veterinarian and member of the Caméléon Center Conservation team – presented the first results of our project on Parson's chameleon (Calumma parsonii).

His lecture, entitled "First observations on the diet, habitat and health of wild Parson's chameleons in Vohimana (Madagascar), with the help of metabarcoding", highlighted new data collected in the field in the Vohimana reserve.
Using the innovative technique of metabarcoding, Benjamin was able to identify the first components of the diet of this iconic

species, while assessing the health status of the individuals observed and refining our understanding of their natural habitat.
His participation in this international event demonstrates our association's commitment to scientific research and chameleon conservation.
The very positive feedback from the experts present confirms the relevance of our approach and strengthens our determination to continue our efforts to protect Parson's chameleon and its ecosystem.
This work was made possible thanks to the support of the National Museum of Natural History – Paris Zoo, the NGO L'Homme et l'Environnement, the Le Pal Nature Foundation, MUZOO and the Sigean African Reserve.
