Our Impact
Turning science into conservation action
Since its inception, Caméléon Center Conservation has been developing research, conservation and training programmes in Africa with the aim of improving scientific knowledge about chameleons and contributing to the sustainable preservation of biodiversity.
Our approach is based on three fundamental principles: generating scientific knowledge that is useful for conservation, building local capacity, and creating positive benefits for the regions where we operate.
Today, our work is carried out in Madagascar, Tanzania and Morocco, in collaboration with universities, local organisations, scientific institutions and international zoological partners.
Our impact since 2023
Biodiversity
22 species studied
Ranging from common species to some of Africa’s most endangered species, as part of long-term research and conservation programmes.
1,600 documented biodiversity observations
Data collected in the field to improve our understanding of the distribution, ecology and threats facing chameleons and their habitats.
3 countries where we operate
Madagascar, Tanzania and Morocco.
Scientific research
680 conservation days carried out in the field
A conservation day is defined as a day spent on research, species monitoring, collecting scientific data, training or conservation activities carried out directly in the field.
13 publications and presentations
Articles, conference papers, scientific posters and presentations that contribute to the sharing of knowledge and the improvement of conservation practices.
12 partner scientific institutions
Academic and scientific collaborations that ensure the quality and credibility of the work carried out.
Training and local capacity-building
12 students supported
African and European students have benefited from academic supervision and practical experience through the CCC programmes.
7 local organisations supported
CCC works in direct partnership with several local organisations committed to conservation: L’Homme et l’Environnement, VOI Iaroka, IMPACT Madagascar, GERP, NatureEvolution Madagascar, La Perle aux oiseaux and Women in Conservation Organisation (WICO).
Supporting women’s leadership in conservation
The Kinyonga Programme, developed in Tanzania in partnership with the Women in Conservation Organisation (WICO), helps to build women’s skills and promote their inclusion in conservation careers.

Why companies support us
Companies that support Caméléon Center Conservation make a tangible contribution to the conservation of biodiversity, the advancement of scientific knowledge and the strengthening of local capacity in the countries where we operate.
Beyond their environmental and social impact, these commitments can also bolster the credibility of their ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) strategy and highlight their contribution to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
By supporting our programmes, companies associate their brand with rigorous scientific projects carried out in collaboration with universities, research institutions, local organisations and recognised zoos. This approach provides a tangible way to demonstrate their commitment to biodiversity and to stand out in the eyes of their staff, customers and partners.
Each partner receives a dedicated annual report detailing how the funds committed have been used, the results achieved, the impact indicators associated with their contribution, as well as communication materials highlighting their commitment.
