Join our eco-volunteer projects in Madagascar
An exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the world’s leading NGO dedicated to chameleons.
Get an inside look at chameleon conservation
What if your next trip could make a direct contribution to protecting biodiversity?
The Caméléon Center Conservation invites you to join its eco-volunteering missions in Madagascar to discover the fieldwork being carried out to study and protect chameleons in one of the world’s major biodiversity hotspots.
Much more than just a nature holiday, this experience allows you to immerse yourself in genuine scientific and conservation projects, alongside researchers, Malagasy students, local guides and CCC partners.
This programme is designed to welcome international participants wishing to experience an immersive conservation programme in Madagascar.
An in-depth look at field research
The fieldwork takes place in various tropical forests across Madagascar, where the CCC runs research and conservation programmes for chameleons.
Depending on the needs of the current projects, you will be able to take part in naturalist surveys, field observations, environmental data collection, or awareness-raising activities carried out with local communities. You will discover the methods used by scientists to better understand the ecology of species, assess their conservation status and develop practical measures for their protection.
No specific scientific skills are required. Motivation, curiosity and a desire to learn are the most important qualities.
A practical contribution to conservation
Your participation benefits more than just your own personal experience. A significant portion of your financial contribution is directly reinvested in the CCC’s conservation projects and its local partners.
By taking part in a mission, you are helping to:
-
fund research projects on chameleons;
-
supporting the employment of local guides and trackers;
-
training Malagasy students in conservation professions;
-
improving the scientific knowledge necessary for species protection;
-
strengthening initiatives within local communities.
Each mission thus helps to generate a lasting positive impact on biodiversity and on the communities living at the heart of these ecosystems.
