The hidden chameleons of eastern Madagascar: a new video from the CCC
A new video focusing on the chameleon survey programme in the rainforests of eastern Madagascar is now available on the Caméléon Centre Conservation’s YouTube channel. Through these images, we take you to the heart of Vohimana, Iaroka and Maromizaha, three forest massifs located in the Ankeniheny-Zahamena Corridor (CAZ), a region renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and its wealth of chameleon species.

Parson’s Caméléon programme reaches a new milestone in Madagascar
A new video dedicated to the 2026 mission of our Calumma parsonii research and conservation programme is now available on the Caméléon Center Conservation YouTube channel. Launched in 2025 in the Vohimana Reserve, the first long-term monitoring programme of Parson’s chameleon in its natural habitat has this year become a permanent programme spanning two forests. It now covers both subspecies found in the region: Calumma parsonii parsonii in Vohimana and Calumma parsonii crist

Relive the first International Chameleon Day through these photos
On 9 May 2026, the Caméléon Center Conservation organised the very first International Chameleon Day in Andasibe.
More than 1,000 participants - local residents, schoolchildren, students, scientists, guides, organisations, authorities and partners - came together to raise awareness of and protect the chameleons of Madagascar, a country that is home to nearly half of the world’s chameleon species.

International Chameleon Day 2026 in Andasibe

Inventory of chameleons in Iaroka: a very promising start
At the end of November 2025, the Chameleon Conservation Centre (CCC) launched a new chameleon inventory project in the Iaroka Forest, located in eastern Madagascar, in the heart of the Ankeniheny–Zahamena forest corridor. After the first two months of fieldwork, the results confirm the high scientific and conservation value of this site.

Start of mission in Iaroka: a new chapter begins
CCC has just opened a new chapter in its activities with the launch of its first field mission dedicated to chameleons in the Iaroka Forest in Madagascar. Located in the Ankeniheny–Zahamena Corridor, this forest remains largely unknown despite its ecological richness. Thanks to collaboration agreements signed with VOI Iaroka and IMPACT Madagascar, our teams can now carry out a comprehensive study and conservation programme there.
