A new commitment to the conservation of chameleons in the Iaroka forest

A new commitment to the conservation of chameleons in the Iaroka forest

The signing of a cooperation agreement between our association and VOI Iaroka marks the creation of a new research and conservation project dedicated to the chameleons of the Iaroka forest, a key habitat of the Ankeniheny-Zahamena Corridor (CAZ).

VOI Iaroka is a community association that manages this forest under a management transfer agreement with the Malagasy government. This partnership will enable the first field missions to be carried out in order to :

  • Set up the chameleon inventory protocols,

  • Train and pay a local guide for ecological monitoring,

  • Raise awareness and involve local communities in conservation.

A new commitment to the conservation of chameleons in the Iaroka forest

By combining scientific expertise and local commitment, this project is laying the foundations for sustainable action to protect these endangered species.
